Project: Expanding Access to HIV Testing Through Rural Pharmacies: A Pilot Planning Collaborative.
• Working as part of team to develop protocols to measure: 1) pharmacist and pharmacy staff acceptance and ability to implement a rapid HIV testing protocol in their pharmacies; and 2) the perception and acceptance of HIV testing through pharmacies by rural high-risk populations (primarily men who have sex with other men – or gay/bisexual men)
• Designing and implementing online survey of rural Indiana MSM to assess their potential need for and interest in pharmacy-based HIV testing

Project: An analysis of the impact of the new prevention FOA (CDC PS12-1201 - Comprehensive HIV Prevention Programs for Health Department Program Applications) on rural and low impact jurisdictions. A collaboration project between RCAP and NASTAD.
• Researching and writing literature review on how the concept of public health infrastructure is being framed and measured in current literature
• Conducting content analysis of all U.S. state and territorial HIV/AIDS funding applications to identify how states and territories are expressing their needs within the constraints of the new prevention Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA)
• Interpreting the results of the content analysis to identify funding uses and any unintended consequences of the new FOA

• Developing patient survey instrument by which to evaluate patient perceptions and experiences of HIV/AIDS counseling by IU/IDM-trained counselors in Botswana
• Working with IDM/IU team and the Botswana Ministry of Health to revise patient survey

• Working with IDM team and IU epidemiologist to design studies addressing alcohol use and abuse; alcohol, HIV/AIDS, and mental health; and alcohol rehabilitation and stigma
• Researching and writing literature review on alcohol use and abuse for a workplace training program funding application to be submitted to the Botswana Ministry of Health
• Designed and developed public health diploma curriculum that will begin with 2012-2013 academic year.
• Assisted in the facilitation of the Process Improvement module of the Botswana Sustainable Management Development Program (SMDP) for Public Health Managers training program (CDC & PEPFAR 1 supported and funded). Fifteen midwives from different hospitals throughout Botswana, on invitation from the Ministry of Health, began process improvement projects in order to reduce maternal mortality in their hospitals.
