About

Christopher Vice was appointed to the faculty of Indiana University Herron School of Art and Design in 2002. From 2002 through 2010, he served as Chairperson of the Department of Visual Communication Design. He directed undergraduate programs and launched the school's first graduate degree program. Under his leadership the department achieved a unified focus on designing as a collaborative cross-disciplinary process for identifying root problems and facilitating meaningful solutions to complex issues.

Prior to the appointment at Indiana University, Christopher was Vice President for Brand Marketing at Sapient, an international business and technology consulting firm headquartered in Cambridge, MA. Christopher worked with designer Clement Mok and the firm's Chief Marketing Officer Dr. Merle Sprinzen to envision people-centered experiences with and within the organization.

Before joining Sapient, Christopher worked as a communication design strategist for firms including Degrippes Gobé (New York), The Designory: an Omnicom company (Los Angeles and Miami) and Jager DiPaola Kemp (Burlington, VT). For ten years, he delivered brand integration strategies for a host of global organizations including Mercedes-Benz, Citibank, Coca-Cola, SBC (now AT&T) and Viacom.

In a previous career as a graphic designer, Christopher's work included publication designs for The Getty Foundation, Southern California Institute of Architecture and Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design. Other notable work includes groundbreaking designs for Beach Culture and Surfer magazines in partnership with David Carson. His work has been featured in publications including IDEA: International Graphic Art Tokyo, The American Center for Design 100, BrandWeek, ID magazine, and Architectural Record.
